For over two hundred years, short stories in English have been written all over the world and in every genre. Reading them is a great way of strengthening one's language skills and discussing them afterwards in a lively group is great fun. In this course we will read a selection of classic and contemporary short stories. Possible choices will be presented in the first lesson; suggestions by participants are welcome. The course is aimed at "adventurous" learners: perfect fluency in English is not required, but you shouldn't be too easily discouraged when encountering phrases or sentences once in a while that you don't understand at first reading. As a rule of thumb, an English proficiency level of B2 (GER) or more (or at least six years of English classes respectively) is advised for active participation.
